The Alchemist (Portuguese: The Alchemist) is a novel by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho which was first published in 1988. Originally written in Portuguese, it became an international bestseller translated into some 70 languages as of 2016. The novel follows a young shepherd in his journey to the pyramids of Egypt, after having a recurring dream of finding a treasure there.
Nobody knows what the treasure contains, or if Santiago will be able to overcome the obstacles during his pursuit of riches. But what begins as a journey in search of riches becomes a discovery of the inner treasure. The Alchemist provides relatively short read but it’s intensely inspiring.
The Magic of Thinking Big, first published in 1959, is a self-help book by David Schwartz. The book, which has sold over 4 million copies, instructs people to set their goals high and think positively, in order to achieve them. This is a highly motivating book that helps us think beyond where we are used to.
This text explores why small thoughts lead to small results, while only when Thinking Big we will achieve great results.
The concepts taught by Napoleon Hill are life-transforming. Some of these include developing a definite purpose, building a positive attitude, discovering the power of the mind and dealing with adversity. Everything he wrote about is thought-provoking and applicable to your daily life.
His philosophy is universal as it is not attached to specific religious beliefs. The riches he referred to in the book not only apply to money, but anything life fulfilling.
As a Man Thinketh is a self-help book written by James Allen, published in 1903. This is one of those books that will help you help yourself. This masterpiece has inspired millions of people to make radical changes in their lives.
Although it is a short read, it is stimulating and thought-provoking as it challenges us to think and look deeply within ourselves.

The Giving Tree is originally a children’s picture book written and illustrated by Shel Silverstein and published in 1964. It has become one of Silverstein’s best-known titles and has been translated into numerous languages.
This book has been described as “one of the most divisive books in children’s literature”. The controversy concerns whether the relationship between the main characters (a boy and a tree) should be interpreted as positive or as negative.
The Giving Tree is the beautiful but sad story of a tree who loved a little boy. The tree loves the boy and does anything she can for him as he grows older – without regard for what she’s getting in return. This book has a strong message for readers of all ages about the act of giving.
