Few things are more important than your own happiness. But for some reason, some of us learn to live without it. How stupid and boring life can be for some of us. Unfortunately, not many people are aware that they are the ones who decide if they want to be happy or not. If you are in doubt, just look around and see for yourself. You will come to realize that no matter what happens to a person, bad or good, happiness is a choice. In fact, some of the happiest persons I know are either poor or handicapped. Why in the world do we choose to be unhappy?
Please, keep reading to know my 5 keys to happiness.
Gratitude is one of the best ways to reflect and appreciate what life has given you. I urge you to take some time every day to give thanks for all the good things that have happened to you. Just by making this a daily ritual, you will feel more content and satisfied with what you have and with what you are.
Do not just give thanks for your belongings, be grateful for having good people by your side, for the good times, for your achievements and for being alive.
Setting and pursuing goals can act as a compass that gives you purpose and direction. Few things are more rewarding than reaching desired goals. When you reach a goal, no matter how small, you will feel an energizing sense of achievement and satisfaction.
We all have goals, but few of us keep track of their progress. I advise you to write them down and review your life goals on a daily basis. Write them down in many places, for example; on a wallet-sized notebook, on your phone(app) and close to your bathroom’s mirror.
Doing something good for others is a beautiful way to increase our level of happiness. There is a powerful message that says, “to receive you must give.” If you genuinely want to welcome abundance and joy into your life, you must adhere to this principle. You must determine for yourself how and by what means you could contribute to the lives of others. The important thing is that you are contributing to a better world.
Keep in mind that a simple act of kindness can change or save a life.

Live the Present
Life is like a roller coaster, given that at some point we all must experience ups and downs. What you should not do is let your problems stop you, given that all your problems are temporary. Remember that you are blessed with the gift of life. Learn to appreciate every minute of it and give yourself the opportunity to live in the now. Do not worry about the past, since you can not change anything about it.
So, be sure to enjoy your present moment, but do not take foolish measures that could negatively affect you in the future.
According to several studies, when you exercise, the brain releases chemicals that stimulate happiness. For this and many other reasons, exercise should be part of your daily routine. Even when you have a tight schedule. There are many exercise programs that you can do from the comfort of your home. The good news is that you only need between 15 and 20 minutes of physical activity, 4 days a week to have remarkable results.
In short, if you exercise regularly, you will feel more energized, confident and happy with yourself.
