Oh, job interviews, can we just send a video expressing how much we want the job?!
So, you have a job interview coming up and you really want or need the job? If so, please check the tips that we I prepared for you. These tips are based on my experience and in my case, it took me years of failed interviews to finally begin mastering the process. If these tips have worked for me, then they will surely work for you.
I hereby give you 5 tips for a great job interview:
Learn about the company
Go to their website and gather information about them; learn their history and accomplishments. Be sure to know what kind of company they are, what are their best products and how long they have been around. It is very important to know that most companies are proud of their culture and history. It is practically compulsory for an interviewer to ask you if you know anything about the company.
This is a great opportunity to impress them by showing your research skills and attention to detail.
Start the interview by providing a firm handshake and a bright smile. Be enthusiastic and outspoken, that way you are demonstrating that you really want the job. Maintain constant eye contact and a good confident posture. Show enthusiasm and make the interviewer want to know more about you.
Lastly, avoid answering questions with a Yes / No and be more detailed with your answers.
Dress to impress
What better way to show that you really want the job? A clean and pleasant appearance could be a determining factor during the selection process. I have seen first hand that some of the most qualified candidates were discarded from the hiring process because they did not pay much attention to their appearance.
Know that the clothes we choose will convey who we really are. Therefore, the clothing for an interview should be associated with the type of professionals we intend to be.
There will be times where the interviewer will expect the candidate to take control of the interview. That being said, you need to limit the times when the interview goes quiet. If that happens, take it upon yourself to change the dynamic of the interview and ask relevant questions. This is the perfect time to let the interviewer know how and why you will be a great fit for the position. Tell them about your goals and how you visualize yourself being successful in their company. Feel free to ask the interviewer about their expectations and the starting date.
If you ask the right questions, by the end of the interview, you will know your chances of obtaining the job.
