Most of us love coffee and soda drinks, unfortunately, many of the popular caffeine-containing beverages, have a diuretic effect that make us dehydrate instead of providing the vital fluid our body needs. In fact when we drink tea or coffee we probably need to drink even more water.
Other liquids such as juices and energy drinks, do not have the same effect as water because they do not clean the body in the same way. As an illustration, think about the following: when you wash your hands, do you do it with juice or some other flavored drink? Obviously not, because your hands would get dirty or sticky instead of clean. The same happens inside your body!
Dehydration can become a silent killer because it can result in devastating effects on your health. The common symptoms of dehydration are dizziness, fatigue, headache, muscle problems, nausea and even heart failure.
In general it is good to consume water before you start to feel thirsty, because once you are already thirsty it means that the body is already at a certain level of dehydration. In other words, do not trust yourself that you do not feel thirsty. The sensation of thirst comes when it is already late.

Another important reason to drink water is that it helps lose and maintain a healthy weight since it aids with the disposal of toxins which are released when burning fat. Besides that, when we maintain our body well hydrated, we are more likely to eat less because we sometimes tend to confuse thirst with hunger. Therefore always make sure you have consumed enough water between between meals and that way you will avoid eating too many snacks.
